The material you choose affects everything — how the box looks and feels, how well it protects your soap during shipping, how it prints, and whether it aligns with your brand’s sustainability values. Here are the main options:

• Kraft board: Unbleached, natural brown board made from wood pulp. It’s strong, recyclable, fully biodegradable, and gives that earthy, artisan look that’s perfect for handmade and organic soap brands. It prints well with soy-based inks for a natural, muted aesthetic. If your brand story is about being “close to nature,” kraft is your material.
• Coated white board (SBS — Solid Bleached Sulphate): Smooth, bright white card that allows full-colour, high-resolution printing. Ideal if you want vibrant designs, bold colours, or photographic print quality. Often used for retail soap brands and luxury product lines.
• Recycled board: Made from post-consumer waste, this is an excellent eco-conscious choice without sacrificing print quality. We use FSC®-certified recycled board that’s fully curbside recyclable.
• Corrugated card: A layered fluted structure that provides extra cushioning and protection. Best for posting soap through the mail or for heavier multi-bar gift sets. Less common for retail shelf packaging but excellent for e-commerce brands shipping via Royal Mail or couriers.
• Rigid chipboard: Heavy, premium card used for luxury two-piece lid and tray boxes. Think high-end gift soaps, hotel amenities, or premium skincare brands. More expensive, but the perceived quality is significantly higher.

Here’s what we offer in terms of sustainable soap packaging:

• FSC®-certified materials: All our kraft and recycled boards carry FSC® certification, meaning the wood pulp comes from responsibly managed forests. This is something you can print on your box and talk about to customers with confidence.
• Soy-based and water-based inks: We use inks that contain no harsh VOCs (volatile organic compounds), making them safer for skin-contact packaging and better for the environment than traditional solvent inks.
• Recyclable and kerbside recyclable options: Our standard boards are fully kerbside recyclable — no need for customers to hunt out special recycling points.
• Compostable liners: If your soap is wrapped in a liner inside the box, we can source compostable inner liners as an add-on.
• No plastic coatings or gloss lamination: We actively advise against plastic laminates if you want fully recyclable packaging. We offer matte aqueous coatings as a plastic-free alternative that still protects the print.

Yes — and you’d be surprised how many of our customers come to us with just a logo and a rough idea of what they want. That’s absolutely fine. Our in-house design support is there to help you create packaging that looks polished and professional, even if you’ve never designed a box before.

Here’s how it works:

• Share your brand assets (logo, brand colours, fonts if you have them) and tell us what you want the box to communicate.
• We’ll create a digital dieline mockup — a 3D preview of exactly what your box will look like printed and assembled.
• You review, request changes, and approve. We won’t print a single box until you’re happy.
• We then proceed to production.

If you already have a designer, they can work directly from our dieline templates, which we provide as print-ready PDF or AI files with all bleed, safe zones, and cut marks marked up.
